View full detailsthis is too easy nowadays. importing plants has truly never been easier. [the right, reputable sellers] have distribution centers locally where plants go to first, go through quality check and then get swiftly shipped to you. so ordering imports is just like ordering domestically ☺️. now the biggest difference with importing plans vs ordering domestically, is that you will need to acclimate import plants. but it’s simple! to acclimate your import plants: -remove the spaghnum moss from the roots -place in water (as though they are propagating -keep in a warm and humid bin while they acclimate have you imported plants before? __ houseplants, rare plants, plant mail, anthurium hybrids, hoya plant mail, anthurium plant mail, acclimating import plants, how to import plants
Got some new plants from @aroidasia 🫶🏻 Hope they all thrive! Importing plants always has its pros and cons but sometimes you just get lucky with large specimens and hard to source plants. You can use code CYRIL20AA if you’re up for the challenge 😉 which one was your favorite? 🌱
Just comment “link” and I’ll send you straight over to the @aroidasia website. They have a ton of different anthuriums, hoya and aroids. Use code JAKE20 for 20% off your order! 🌿 I still don’t have a DocBlock set of genetics yet… but I am slowly growing my Anthurium collection. I’ve held off on getting new plants for a long time, so I’m really excited to start adding more. Wish I was lucky like @botanicallyinsane and found some Michelle’s locally! Let me know what you want to see next.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, it’s PLANT MAIL TIME! 🪴💌✨ Thank you so much @aroidasia for gifting me these gorgeous imported plants. They all made it safely from Indonesia to Colorado despite the cold and snow ☃️. You can use code “rose20” for a discount when ordering from them 💕. Plants featured: Scindapsus Jade Satin Variegated Scindapsus Moonlight Variegated Anthurium Dressleri x Magnificum Alocasia Frydek Variegated Hoya SP Tenggamus Acclimating imported plants is always a little nerve wracking. You never know how much shock they might go through when traveling so far in the mail. I like to treat them like propagations. First I make sure the roots feel good. If there’s any cold damage or root rot damage I’ll cut it away. Cut off the dead leaves, cut off the dead or rotted roots, and start fresh. I always rinse them off to make sure they’re freshly clean because I don’t quarantine my new plants. I do make sure they have their own space but they are near other plants still. So it’s good to rinse them off and make sure they look clean. After that I set them up in propagation glasses with a little bit of rooting hormone. Then I leave them be for a week or two before moving them to soil!
Plant haul from @aroidasia My acclimation process for imported plants 👇🏼 1. Soak the roots in room temperature water for about 1-2 hours. 2. Fill a pot with drainage holes with moist sphagnum moss. 3. Remove the plant from water, let excess water drip off, and gently plant it in the moss. 4. Place the plant in indirect light, avoiding direct sunlight at first. 5. Keep the sphagnum moss moist but not waterlogged. 6. Gradually increase light exposure over several weeks to acclimate the plant to its new environment. I usually cut off 70-80% of the foliage and any suspicious looking roots. I use sphagnum moss to help the root system strengthen and to keep the humidity high around the plant for the first few weeks. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments! 🪴
I’ve never had to deal with tissue culture plants before but I just got a container of Variegated Philodendron Domesticum a couple weeks ago from @aroidasia . As a newbie, I contacted them for instructions and here are the steps that they suggested. 1. Open the container immediately. 2. Use running water to clean off all the gel. 3. Soak them in fungicide for 5 mins. (I sprayed mine instead.) 4. Find a clear container and fill it with moist moss. Put the baby plants in and cover the lid. 5. Check weekly. When they are big enough, transfer to other medium, such as soil. I hope this helps! @aroidasia is running a promotion for the new year. Use my code “nicole20” to get 20% off with a minimum purchase of $100.
